Hundreds of freedom-loving Ukrainian TV and print journalists are making last-minute preparations for reporting on the Belarusian presidential election on August 9, 2020. They will be accompanied by dozens of Moscow- and Kyiv-based foreign journalists, who for months have been cooped up in their apartments Tweeting and Zooming about the COVID-19 pandemic.
This army of journalists won’t actually travel to Minsk, because that’s too dangerous. They will be there virtually, re-sharing photographs of violence via Facebook and Twitter.
The boilerplate stuff, meanwhile, is being dreamed up and written right now in the heads of their editors, who will undoubtedly use various off-the-wall narratives, depending on their level of their ignorance.
