This isn’t Keith’s plan, per se. It’s Keith’s idea of a plan. An idea is crucial for sparking creativity, but it requires well-thought-out plan to become actionable.
Vova, on the other hand, insists that four conditions should be enshrined in fundamental international agreements to end the war:
withdrawal of Ukrainian troops from the Donetsk and Luhansk people's republics, Zaporozhia and Kherson regions,
Ukraine’s commitment to adopt a non-aligned status,
denazification and demilitarization of the country, and
the lifting of all Western sanctions.
Z’s idea of a plan, at least as of yesterday, is this:
Vova’s decision in 2014 to annex Crimea and occupy areas of eastern Ukraine has led to at least a million deaths. He has violated dozens of international and bilateral agreements since then.
On Friday, outgoing EU foreign policy chief Josep said the situation in Ukraine is “worsening.” He doesn’t think US President-elect Donald Trump will improve it.
“Everyone says that Trump thinks he will end the war quickly, but I can’t think of another way to end the war quickly than by ending help for Ukraine and kneeling before the Kremlin. …If you stop helping Ukraine, the war ends, and you have Russian tanks in Kyiv, the Russian army at the Polish border, the Ukrainian people deported to Siberia and a change of regime in Kyiv. … I don’t want this to be the way we end the war, and the Ukrainians even less so. If Trump has another solution, I don’t know. No one knows.”
Wonderful.
In other news, Carlotta finally coughed up her article about the 126th brigade.
