Flawed and impractical
A new cover for a book that does not as yet exist.
Matthew Livelsberger, a highly decorated active duty US Army Green Beret, shot himself in the head seconds before self-immolation. The 37-year old soldier was home on leave from Stuttgart, Germany.
The New Year’s Day explosion outside Trump International Hotel in Las Vegas was reported about 8:40 a.m. local time, police said.
"We were told that a 2024 Cybertruck pulled up to the front of the hotel, and, in fact, I can tell you it pulled right up to the glass entrance doors of the hotel. We saw smoke start showing from the vehicle, and then an explosion from the truck occurs."
The screen grab reminded me instantly of the picture snapped just after the assassination eight years ago of Russia’s ambassador to Turkey at an art exhibit in Ankara, Turkey.
The gunman, Mevlut Mert Altıntas, an officer in Ankara’s riot police squad, yelled “Don’t forget Aleppo. Don’t forget Syria” before he was shot dead.
A third jacket cover can be lifted from Z’s annual holiday speech featuring a not too subtle visual hint of a waving American flag superimposed on the titanium Mat’ Rodina monument.
Not unlike photographs, human speech is also composed of figurative expressions. The photographic representation of reality is a metaphorical image of another reality, which remains visually absent. Similarly, words which may be obscured or totally lacking in a tirade can be understood by the context of the presentation. It is not so much that the speech sounds "contain" meaning; it is rather that they "trigger" meaning.
