NATO's funeral pyre
What happened: There were drones over Poland yesterday. Some time ago, NATO promised Article 5 would guarantee Poland's safety. The smirking chimp in the Kremlin sent the drones anyway. The alliance, inside its Brussels headquarters, was very excited to issue a strongly-worded statement.
Ukraine's former Commander-in-Chief Valeriy Zaluzhny has for months been warning that NATO might "go the way of the United Nations—paralysed by its own structure and outdated assumptions."
But Western officials, including US Ambassador to NATO Matthew Whitaker, keep insisting the alliance has never been stronger.
