Day 1571
Housekeeping
Four years of war, sorted by a machine into eight piles. The piles are approximate. The war was not.
These eight clusters represent a machine’s attempt to sort a sampling of 1,142 posts by resemblance, which is not the same as meaning, and the reader is advised to treat them accordingly.
What it found: that 2024 belonged to the grinding arithmetic of military analysis; that 2025 was consumed almost entirely by one man’s reappearance on the world stage; that 2026 has produced something the classifier cannot name, and so called it geopolitics.
What it missed: everything written between the lines, which is where most of the writing lives. The sample begins in February 2022 — the moment the subject became unavoidable, and the author, like everyone else, somewhat more serious.
