Surrender or Flee
Russia’s invasion progress is pathetic. They are getting surrounded, smushed and turned into fertilizer. It’s the 62nd day of the assault and they haven’t even reached Sloviansk. It’s probably best if they surrender immediately.
Karen is still hard at work trying hard to sex up the looming battle Putin lost on Day 11.
Maybe Karen should travel to eastern Ukraine. That way she can see what’s going on with her own eyes and report about it accurately.
Biden’s pick for new ambassador to Ukraine, Bridget, has been officially announced. Her nomination hasn’t been submitted, though, so maybe we’re back to square one. It doesn’t matter much, because the U.S. embassy — the second largest U.S. embassy in Europe — has been shuttered since February.
In news of the weird, state sleuths in Moscow yesterday announced investigations of alleged plans by Ukraine to assassinate Russian TV spin doctors.
And this very very very long essay from Anne in The Atlantic, titled “Ukraine and the Words That Lead to Mass Murder,” that leaves out the part about western jornos parroting Kremlin talking points since at least 2014 about separatists who staged an insurrection in eastern Ukraine.
Looking on the bright side, maybe the new crop of jornos this time around will pay more attention to words they use to describe fascist Russia’s current genocidal campaign against Ukraine.
