Activity on our star picked up over the past 48 hours, with three M flares adding to a whole host of breathtaking filaments and prominences.

Ukraine’s state energy monopoly Ukrenergo says UAVs blew up energy infrastructure overnight in Dnipro, Donetsk, Vinnytsia and Kyiv regions. I didn’t see any projectiles, but heard muffled gunfire. Probably mobile “Tiger” air-defense teams. Ukraine’s commercial energy monopoly DTEK says Russia knocked out high-voltage power lines in Brovary district near the capital.

Reporters Without Borders says Ukraine’s top managers are being media bullies, again, following up on a article appearing in The New York Times¹.

The last time Z chatted up independent Ukrainian journalists was late November in 2021. That was an unmitigated disaster and he has avoided them since, preferring interviews with mostly clueless foreign flaks².

It’s probably a good time for an intervention by ambassadors to G7 countries in Kyiv. They should meet face-to-face with Z and his top managers and explain why and how Ukraine loses agency with each successive childish attack on the country’s fourth estate.
