the massacre coinciding with start of russia’s invasion of ukraine was intented to create as much havoc as possible to distract attention from crimea. it wasn’t snipers who killed dozens of protesters marching up institutska st, but riot police with assault rifles. rinse, repeat.

dozens of protesters killed on february 20, 2014 after police pulled back from independence square were mowed down by a a group of berkut riot police armed with kalashnikov assault rifles. one member of the squad had a dragunov sniper rifle.

most of the protesters were not picked off by snipers, or killed by “sniper bullets” fired from sniper rifles.

many persons were seen and photographed carrying sniper rifles in downtown kyiv from february 18–20. but they aren’t the ones responsible for the massacre of protesters marching up institutska st. the men with dragunov sniper rifles milling around institutska/bankova on february 20, 2014 were not the ones shooting protesters marching up the hill.
