Turns out Team Russia likely did shoot down that Azerbaijani passenger plan, mistaking it for a Ukrainian drone.
For a new feature, from misery to depression, over to Dnipro, a five-hour drive southeast of Kyiv, where esprit de corps are cherry-picked quotes illustrated by Ed’s snaps, all of which are spectacularly muddy.
Actually, no. The 2024 holiday season marks Ukraine’s 11th straight since Russia’s invasion. Donald was prez during four of them.
In keeping with the notion that everything ever imagined can somehow be turned into evidence of the unquestionable desire of America’s kakistocracy “to bring peace to the region,” Keith approved a tweet casting a loving reference to the Lord, whoever He is.1 Yet Donald’s nutbar team, whose masochistic ideas of unanaesthetized public self-surgery won’t be a great source of comfort when, say, ICE agents starts deporting 4% of the population, may be preoccupied with MAGA stuff.
We all know Vova’s goals in our war. Negotiating a ceasefire agreement isn’t one of them. Looking on the bright side, it may become one if we punch him hard enough, repeatedly, in the face.
Because I’ve been thinking about Kakha Bendukidze since yesterday2, I decided to read a long article about the India’s ruling party, Bharatiya Janatam, turning George Soros into a boogeyman. It’s the same playbook used by Viktor in Hungary and adopted in other countries, including by MAGA wonks in America.
The last time I checked, the core principles of open society, to which I ascribe, remain unobjectionable.
Individual Freedom: Prioritize personal liberties and the rights of individuals.
Humanitarian Ethics: An open society is guided by ethical considerations that promote human welfare and dignity.
Rational Criticism: Open societies value critical thinking and rational discourse. They encourage questioning and debate over dogma, allowing for the evolution of ideas and policies based on evidence rather than ideology
Pluralism: A hallmark of open societies is the acceptance of diverse viewpoints and lifestyles.
Democratic Governance: Open societies advocate for democratic institutions that allow citizens to participate in decision-making processes. This includes fair elections, freedom of expression, and the rule of law
Transparency and Accountability: Governments in open societies are expected to operate transparently, with mechanisms in place to hold leaders accountable to the public.
Access to Information: Open societies emphasize the importance of access to information and knowledge as a means of empowering citizens. This means freedom of the press and the availability of diverse sources of information without censorship.

So what is your take on the “breaking news” that Joe was deteriorating prior to the 2016 election? There are over 50 accounts by largely friendly to Biden press and public figures who insisted he was a functioning decider until quite recently. So they collectively lied “for the good of the country” right? Wrong. So - as a believer in an open society, I don’t think a free and fair press exists given that the likes of Schiff STILL lie about the specifics in Crossfire Hurricane & alleged Russian collusion. This gets a pass. But the press lying for over 4 years or slamming those who can see and hear that this addled joke is not in any shape to do much except accept foreign bribes with the help of his depraved family is annoying. Reminds me of WuFlu and that official line from Fauci. Fauci lied too. Repeatedly. Same with ethically challenged Liz Cheney who should lose her law license & deservedly so.
We don’t know what Democrats are calling the shots in DC or who have for nearly 4 years. We also apparently don’t deserve to learn anything about the drone parades in my home state. I have suspicions about both.
So, hate on the new team if it makes you feel better but it’s a better shot at transparency than the corrupt & shameless Bidens. Especially Edith.
