This is unsettling. Little Marco found himself in a mood to tweet something and once again had the unmitigated fucking gall to congratulate the Russian people on Russian Day, distancing MAGA world from a forever war. Words only: he had no luck, hold steady now, assuring us that Team USA is taking all necessary steps “to protect our forces and remain in close contact with our regional partners,” after movingly reminding the Russian people that it’s okay again to feel good about mass casualty events1.
Looking on the positive side.

Team USA obvi is in a dark place.

A second, Trumpian, point of reference is also becoming apparent: ‘Act first, think later.’ The fear of not calculating the consequences has been a significant deterrent to international politics for decades. Trump has boldly (or madly, as some say) stirred these waters to the point where the consequences of inaction are as unclear today as the consequences of drastic action - the status quo is effectively non-existent, what were axioms in the world of politics have been relegated, if not destroyed, to the category of unproven theorems. So the temptation to ‘cut the Gordian knots’ is growing, while the feeling that it is possible to avoid it and ‘talk’ the problems away is fading. — Vladimir Pastukhov (June 13, 2025)
America First, Exhibit A.
Pete testifying before the House Armed Services Committee.
Sigh.
More good news: forecast says rain for Donald’s parade.
What could go wrong?
