I shouldn’t make light of air alerts. As I write this, there are reports of strikes—direct and indirect hits—including a dormitory in Darnytsky district, a building in Pechersk district and a garage coop in Solomiansky district. Russia is also bombing Konotop in Sumy region and Dnipro.
On a different note: I completely forgot about my commitment to Marie—a 10-minute piece on 11th-century Kyiv. The year was 1068. Vsevolod ruled nominally but was getting crushed by the Cumans near Pereiaslavl. By 1073, he’d forced his own brother Iziaslav to flee the capital. Both were sons of Yaroslav the Wise.
Marie is Marie Kondo (sometimes pronounced Kombo), or MarKon, who helps with Chinese malware and keeping everything organized. Medieval Ukraine is her passion.

Dniprovsky district: 16-story building hit. Fire on the 6th floor, 10 people rescued, including children. The bodies of two deceased were found.
Darnytsky district: As a result of a UAV hit, floors 11 to 16 of a 17-story building were on fire. 15 people were rescued, including two children. A two-story non-residential building was also on fire - the fire was localized.
Desniansky district: The facade of a 10-story building was damaged, a car and a gas pipe were on fire. 20 people were rescued.
Pechersky district: The upper floors of a 25-story building were hit. The fire was extinguished before the arrival of rescuers.This above what Russia’s early morning air attack looked like. As of this writing, its about 0835, at least two residents of the capital were killed and Russia started launching Dagger missiles from MiG-31s. Missiles are in the air and damage reports are being updated.
