U.S. President Joe Biden has used the word genocide to describe Russia’s further invasion of Ukraine1.
Recall Phase 1 of the mess (February 24 - March 30). It ended with kitted up TikTokering legionnaires wandering around the outskirts of Kyiv taking selfies2.
We are now in the middle of Phase 2: three dozen or so Russian battalion tactical groups are getting ready to occupy all of Donbas, everything between Kharkiv in the north to Mariupol in the south.
Looking on the positive side, Ukraine has received and deployed Kamikaze Switchblade drones to slow down the advance of enemy troops3.
I haven’t gotten around to listening to what Putin and Lukashenko blabbed about yesterday. Maybe I’ll save that for tomorrow.

Biden calls Russia’s war in Ukraine a ‘genocide’ (The Washington Post, April 12, 2022)
We are smack dab in the middle of a catastrophe of such magnitude that there is no long-term development scenario. Not one. Anyone who thinks there is plenty of time to think the mess through should have their head examined. (Day 30. Mass Deportation. March 25, 2022)
