One of these things is not like the other; one of these things just doesn’t belong.

A diamond bullet through the forehead. A prep school student shouting O captain my captain from a classroom desk. Sex the first time. News of a Go-Gos reunion.

Z uses the G word in his speech to the United Nationals General Assembly meeting.

“This is clearly a genocide,” he said, referring to tens of thousands of Ukrainian children kidnapped by Russia.

Good for Z’s narrative shapers!

Richard, Andrew and Farnraz @nyt waited until paragraph 8 in their reportage to mention it

. Over @wapo, nothing, although the newspaper’s bureau chief Isabelle found the time to post a selfie babysitting a poodle in Lviv

.

The self-aggrandizing cluelessness of most foreign flaks continues to astound and confound ordinary Ukrainians.

Over @cnn, Wolf quizzes Z about Trump’s (non) plan to end the bloodletting in one day, as per an idiotic excerpt of the pow wow released on September 20.

In Russia, meanwhile, this:

A military recruiting advertisement, in which invaders discuss which Ukrainian city they plan on relocating to (after exterminating the native inhabitants).

Maybe it would be a good idea for NYT, WAPO and CNN to give their bureau chiefs and war correspondents a second chance to report on genocide by shuttling them back and forth between Kyiv, Minsk and Stepanakerk. That way future generations of Ukrainian metaphysicians can cross-reference insights with their Belarusian and Armenian colleagues about failed frameworks used in inquiries by foreigners about the extermination of their forebears.

When your biggest benefactor says that the most important crises the world faces today are climate change, LBGQT@@+- rights, and domestic terrorism then I suppose one has to tip one's cap to the moneybags by championing the real important issues. Personally, genocide seems like a bit more urgent problem to attend to but wtf do I know.
