Ed has left us. Among his peers he was regarded as the best in the business. I could mention a couple of his escapades in the former Yugoslavia and Ukraine, but they remain classified. Ed was responsible for my work at as European correspondent for the West Plains Daily Quill. He was one of the few journalists I actually looked forward to working with.

I get the impression that Uncle Joe is trying in his characteristic manner to “squeeze out” (or “push through”) the result that situationally suits him most, primarily from the point of view of the domestic political situation in the United States. His goal is more or less clear: to freeze the conflict, at least during the US presidential campaign.
Temporarily nullifying Russia’s strategic offensive potential and returning to status quo bloody meat grinder positional warfare is an unattractive scenario when the elevators don’t work.
