Presumptive despotism
Team USA’s constitutional crisis we mentioned yesterday got even worse after the Supreme Court delayed, some say indefinitely, the election-subversion case against Trump. Yep, the same judges who overturned Roe v. Wade two years ago.
The most red states (full ban) are among the most medieval ones and will be in the Trump column in November.
Louisiana (La) has passed regulation mandating the display of the ten commandments in all public schools. State legislators there have also allowed surgical castration to be used as a punishment for sex crimes under a new law signed by Republican Governor Jeff Landry. This law, which will go into effect August 1, allows judges to order people found guilty of certain sex crimes against minors to undergo surgical castration.
And, of course, Idaho, where back in April, Idaho Governor Brad Little signed HB 710 into law a measure is intended to prevent children from encountering materials “harmful to minors” in a school or public library. This xlates to no Henry Miller, Anais Nin or William S. Burroughs.
Many Americans appear oblivious to the fact their country is turning into one big illiberal thought experiment. That anyone anywhere is so stupid as to take convicted felon candidate Trump seriously, with his faux-jovial giggling at the dead, his deranged fantasies of ‘black jobs,’ his labored lies on behalf of those whose plan for ‘greatness’ is to seize oil under the fuzzy cover of rage against wrong-thinking brown people, his munificent and forgiving massages of hatred among wannabe fascists, is beyond me.
While we’re on the subject of big men strong men, Z has rolled out the welcome mat for Hungary’s leader in Kyiv. Victor Orbán is only 5’7” and weighs almost 300 pounds. He’s a bonefied populist on good terms with Trump and the maniac next door trying to kill us. Hungary assumed the six-month rotating presidency of the European Union Council on July 1. Orbán’s slogan is “Make Europe Great Again.”
In other bad news, France, where an absolute majority is now within reach for Marine Le Pen’s National Rally. We’ll find out whether Emmanuel will be forced into appointing the first democratically elected far-right government in France’s modern history after the second round of voting next week.

What the F does he hope to gain by inviting Orban? Appeasement never works. How about all those Ukrainians that fled Ukraine when the invasion proper kicked off? Don't you think it's time they stopped hiding and came back to fight. Putin is waging total war against the Ukrainian people and last time I checked women from Ukraine count as Ukrainian. You only survive if you fight, you only win if you fight. Stop whining or I'll stop donating.
