Wonderful photographs by Nicole documenting the misery of evacuating Pokrovsk.
Almost a month after Ukraine moved the fighting to the territory of “canonical Russia,” to Kursk region, the goal of the operation appears to have been to boost morale and drag the country’s benefactors even further into the conflict. More participation of the West in the war seems to be the only understandable strategy to end the invasion, something we touched upon on Day 22, but the achieving this objective seems more remote now than ever1.
Z tells us the time is now for Biden, Starmer, Scholz and Macron to cough up long-range weapons and to authorize Ukraine to use them.
But Uncle Joe and western leaders are sticking with their incrementalizing military assistance self-deterence strategy, leaving Team Z to blow bubbles, sort out Ukraine’s bungled mandatory conscription drive and start building fall-back defensive fortifications costing UAH billions (much of which has already been embezzled).
Looking on the bright side, Madyar’s August report:
Team Russia tried to kill us again this morning.
Russia attacks Kyiv with ballistics, cruise missiles, air defense eliminates about 20 missiles, one UAV – authorities
KYIV. Sept 2 (Interfax-Ukraine) – Russian troops launched a combined missile attack on Kyiv with ballistic and cruise missiles, Kyiv Military Administration reports.
"The attack was combined - with cruise and ballistic missiles. Cruise missiles [potentially X-101] were most likely launched around three in the morning from Tu-95MS strategic bombers from Saratov region, Russia," the report says.
The missiles approached Kyiv after complex maneuvers and from the southern direction. At the same time as the cruise missiles approached the capital, the enemy launched KN-24/Iskander-M ballistic missiles at Kyiv and its suburbs.
In addition, one strike UAV was added to the missiles.
"The air defense forces and means in the capital's airspace destroyed more than a dozen cruise missiles and about a dozen ballistic missiles and a strike drone. An incredibly large number of ballistic missiles at the same time." the statement said.
The department noted that as a result of the missile strike in the city, debris fell in the Holosiyivsky, Sviatoshynsky, Dniprovsky and Shevchenkivsky districts.
Preliminary reports indicate that cars are on fire and non-residential premises are damaged.
Data on the damage and casualties are being clarified.
Fireflight - Keep Fighting.
