“Anyone who just sees on a map where Russia is striking from, where Russia is preparing forces and holding reserves, where it has military facilities and using logistics - anyone who sees all of that obviously understands what Ukraine's long-range capability is for. We spoke at length about this with Anthony Blinken and David Lammy - the US Secretary of State and the British Foreign Secretary.... I hope that after our conversation, there can no longer be a single unanswered question about why Ukraine needs sufficient long-range capability,” Z said.
No one wants to give Ukraine’s president the secret codes to operate sophisticated weapons systems.
Ukraine needs a lot of things, including a new president.
We all agreed a long time ago that Team USA and Ukraine’s western partners should have done — and should be doing — much, much more. We recommended authorizing A3E (Advise, Assist, Accompany) on Day 4, and on Day 14 we concluded that what will happen can’t be avoided12.
In September 2022, former Commander-in-Chief Valery Zaluzhny made a good case, in writing, for Ukraine to increase it’s long range missile capability. The president sacked him earlier this year, without giving a good reason.
KYIV. Sept 13 (Interfax-Ukraine) – The allies shoot down missiles and drones together in the sky over the Middle East, but there is still no similar decision on joint destruction of Russian missiles and Shahed drones in the Ukrainian sky, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy has said on Friday.
"When we hear that new missiles have arrived to Russia from Iran, that is exactly the same evil that the allies have already had to shoot down in the sky over the Middle East. Now, maybe, the missile brand is different, but not Iran's terrorist motive which stands behind the proliferation and use of this weapon. If the allies shoot down missiles and shoot down drones in the sky over the Middle East together, then why is there still no similar decision on joint destruction of Russian missiles and Iranian Shaheds in the Ukrainian sky?" he said at the 20th meeting of the Yalta European Strategy (YES).
The head of state stressed that the decision on shooting down Russian missiles and drones together was not made even after they entered the territories of Ukraine's neighbors.
"And when we raise this issue with our partners, by the way this happens constantly, to be honest, everyone tries to simply avoid the issue. They are even afraid to say that we are working on this. They are even afraid of words," Zelenskyy said.
He emphasized that "so far only Belarus has distinguished itself in shooting down Russian Shaheds."
"Such a shame for strong democratic world," Zelenskyy said.
On Day 595, we warned about conflating the disasters in the Middle East and Ukraine3. Z obvi didn’t read the post. That’s too bad for him, and too bad for the country.
As of this writing, the Starmer-Biden talks in Washington, DC produced no decision on Kyiv’s use of long-range missiles. The public month-long public campaign to get Team USA’s approval has, at best, been an op-ed exercise for Ukraine experts and, at worst, a gigantic waste of time that distracts us from fixing self-inflicted problems exacerbated by greasy clowns on Bankova who have mismanaged the war effort.
Ukraine aren’t afraid of Russia, but the west appears to be!
hi, doug. it's less about fear at this point.
in a country where politicians and officials tend to frequently change partners, flitting in and out of the president’s office with almost a sinful absence of fidelity, z has facilitated the reincarnation of yanukovych-era flunkies, including the current crop of ministers.
the result isn't unlike a horrible accident, except it’s been caused by an unemployed actor desperate for attention and applause. you want to laugh and be entertained, but you also want to avoid becoming a victim and paying too much attention to the horribleness of the grisly deaths he has failed to prevent.
