Underground isn't Over

Lukashenko attempts to avoid Ceaușescu's fate

We left off last week posting the video of Nicolae and Elena’s death in Romania by firing squad, warning that Belarusian strongman Alexander Lukashenko faced a similar fate if he didn’t get his act together quickly.

Lukashenko didn’t and now there is blood on the streets. What happens next is anyone’s guess, especially if he shows up unexpectedly in Kobryn.

Predictably, hundreds of freedom-loving western journalists and think-tank experts have reported on the post-presidential election violence remotely. They didn’t travel to Minsk, because it was too dangerous, so they’re offering virtual support by re-sharing photographs of violence on social media platforms.

The boilerplate stuff, meanwhile, has already been dreamed up in the heads of news anchors and editors, who have fallen back on various off-the-wall narratives, depending on their level of their ignorance.

CNN, so far, has completely ignored the tumult. Maybe they are on vacation.
