Ukraine is rolling out the welcome mat today for a beano with the leaders of The Big Three — Italy, France and Germany, Europe’s richest counties.
Mario, Emmanuel and Olaf will be strutting across Bankova Street later this morning. They are scheduled to chat up Z about plans to grant EU membership status to Ukraine, conditionally.
“I think we are at a time when we, the European Union, need to send clear political signals to Ukraine and the Ukrainian people in a context where they have been resisting heroically for several months,” Macron said on Wednesday while visiting a NATO base in Romania.
Emmanuel, abnormally, has talked about an exit from the war, to include European security guarantees for Ukraine. But no one here thinks France or Germany could or would fight on our behalf.
Fascist Russia’s genocidal campaign has been in full swing since late February and passions are running high, so Z’s office — just in case — has kept the historic visit hush hush for security reasons. As of this writing, no official announcement has been made.
As we already noted, Italy and Germany lost WWII. France surrendered in 1940 to the Nazis and collaborated with Hitler. Today the governments of all three countries are stacked with bureaucrats on the Kremlin’s payroll, including top ranking military officers1.
