We can all thank the chief of staff of the National Guard’s Azov Brigade, Major Bohdan Krotevych, for asking authorities in writing to investigate the ineptitude of the general Z put in charge of the Joint Forces Command of Ukraine’s military in February.
The president sacked Yuriy Sodol yesterday, without giving any reason1. He never does. Sodol still hasn’t been relieved of his other duties, yet.
There is no uniform code of military justice in Ukraine. That means majors in Ukraine’s National Guard make public complaints.
There are two ways of becoming mindless. One is when you think the same thing over and over again, so many times that you become sure it’s correct without thinking. The problem with this is that once you make a way of thinking second nature, you're never going to improve and circumstances are going to change. The last thing you want to be is mindless when your next-door neighbor tweeks and decides he wants to kill you.
Learning to be mindless on a single occasion is even more pernicious. That’s when your chief of staff tells you, for example, Russia won’t invade. You just accept it and you accept it because you're oblivious to future circumstances where you might need that information. When you process something mindlessly, it's not available anymore, it's not available for you to play with it and say, "Well, maybe this time, not under those circumstances." Et cetera.
Progress!
We released lots of anandmide molecules into the bloodstream this morning. The sky was very blue. Our girlie Gaviotta sneakers with J-Frame(TM) technology are still dreamy.
State Bureau of Investigation (SBI) agents questioned member of parliament Mykola (The Pork Chop) Tyshchenko about his involvement in last week’s assault by members of Tyshchenko’s entourage on a veteran in Dnipro. No one trusts the SBI. Turns out Tyshchenko’s gang included a policeman from Kyiv, a paint ball instructor from Kyiv, a separatist and former regional deputy from Poltava who worked under Illia Kyva. Kyva, we recall, was shot dead in the head outside Moscow in December 2023.
Like most Kyiv-based meatballs, Mykola is always flush with cash2.
Here’s Mykola smashing his phone during his pow wow with investigators:
And, finally, Reuters tells us that Lt. General (Ret.) Keith Kellogg and Fred Fleitz have presented a strategy to Trump for ending Russia’s genocidal war.
This plan is, er, nonsense.
Kellogg and Fleitz authored a paper, titled “America First, Russia, & Ukraine,” for the American Center for Security in April 2024.
